What is NAKED BRAIN?
NAKED BRAIN is all things and it is nothing. It is a square, yet it is not "square". It is an essence, a sound. It is like a samba that swings so cool and sways so gently. It is a beautiful woman waiting for lunch. But, more than anything, NAKED BRAIN is a weekly humor cartoon about farting, puns, and really messed-up people. Unless it's not.
Presented in glorious black and white (do not adjust your monitor!), NAKED BRAIN is a wondrous dumping ground for all my scattered, various ideas that may be too sophisticated, raunchy, subversive, or otherwise inappropriate for, say, a daily syndicated strip. It presents my own satirical view of people and society, focusing more on psychology and human nature than politics and pop culture. And, as usual, my biggest target (the easiest to hit) is myself...a rich vein of humor if I ever saw one.
As you'll see, NAKED BRAIN is many things: myriad one-off gags as well as some extended sequences utilizing continuing characters. Sometimes my ideas get a little arty and esoteric, but that's just part of the heady mix. This is a comic strip that offers variety and plenty of surprises...plus the proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation that comics readers crave!
And rest assured that I do not take the "Naked" part of the title lightly (or, thankfully, literally); I compromise nothing and pull no punches. NAKED BRAIN is Marc Hempel cut loose -- unabashed, undiluted, uncensored, unexpurgated, and unrestrained!
